Five years ago, Kadant UK began researching nanotechnology and its applications to current doctoring products. Nanotechnology had already been applied to other products such as hockey sticks, tennis rackets, and surfboards.

Dr. Mike Draper, composites manager at Kadant UK, and the research and development team developed a resin made from nano-particles that when paired with doctor blade raw material creates a stronger and more resistance doctor blade less prone to chipping and delamination.

The patented nanotechnology-enhanced doctor blades have delivered exceptional results in field trials on tough applications that previously used standard composite blades that were notoriously short-lived. The latest advances in “nano-blades” have proven to be a perfect fit for these challenging doctoring applications.
