Tell me about your career path and how you got to Kadant Johnson.

Following high school, I went to Western Michigan University in the Paper Engineering program and continued working part-time at the Johnson Corporation in the W.R. Monroe Research Center. Upon graduation, I was hired as a sales representative with Steam Systems, Inc. We developed into a service company installing and servicing Kadant Johnson products. Kadant Johnson acquired SSI in 2017.
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
The people. I work with outstandingly talented people. They are hardworking and motivated to be the absolute best in the industry. That’s easy to get on board with and fun to be a part of.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
From planning to execution, it is imperative that expectations are understood before they can be met. Active listening and effective communication through the process can make all the difference.
What aspect of your day-to-day do you enjoy the most?
There is great satisfaction in identifying and solving problems that have otherwise given customers fits.
What is your favorite type of project to work on?
Paper machine rebuilds are great. Out with the old, in with the new.

Thankful, relaxed, and confident they can move on to the next chapter.
Tell me about your family.
I have a wonderfully supportive and talented wife, Dr. Molly Weiandt who practices dentistry and esthetics. We have two beautiful girls, Haley (13) who loves music and art and Sydney (11) who lives for competitive cheerleading.
What do you like to do in your free time and why?
I love to golf when it's warm – it’s a beautiful place to clear your head and the views can be spectacular. I love to snow ski in the winter for the same reasons.
Do you have a favorite sports team and how did you become a fan?
University of Michigan Wolverines. I was cursed at a young age and I can’t shake it.
What season do you like best and why?
